Merit Badge University

February 15, 2020 @ 7:30 am - 4:00 pm EST

Troop 58 has been chosen to do the Flag ceremony at this Saturday’s Merit Badge University. Though each scout is registering on their own, please RSVP in Troop Track if you are going so we can plan for the flag ceremony. If you are going and would like to lead the flag ceremony (or need to for a badge requirement) please text me and include your parent. YiS, Kim Moore 410-302-9885

This year you register your scout. This just went live January 15, 2020 and will fill quickly so register as soon as can. Current Badges Offerred but with limited space:

Citizenship in the Community – Rm1609– All Day Session 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM – (Max: 25 Scouts)

Crime Prevention – Rm 1607– AM Session (8:30 AM to Noon) PM Session (12:30 to 4:00 PM) – (Max: 30 Scouts each session).

Family Life/Geocaching – Rm 1602 – AM Session (8:30 AM to Noon) PM Session (12:30 to 4:00 PM) – (Max: 30 Scouts each session).

First Aid – Rm 1611 – All Day Session 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM – (Max: 20 Scouts).

First Aid – Rm 1612 – All Day Session  8:30 AM to 4:00 PM – (Max: 20 Scouts).

Public Speaking -Rm1605– AM Session (8:30 AM to Noon) PM Session (12:30 to 4:00 PM) – (Max: 10 Scouts each session).

Radio – Room 1603 – AM Session (8:30 AM to Noon) PM Session (12:30 to 4:00 PM) – (Max: 10 Scouts each session)

Soil & Water Conservation – Rm1604 AM Session ONLY (8:30 AM to Noon) – (Max: 20 Scouts).

REVIVE! is the Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education (OONE) program for the Commonwealth of Virginia. REVIVE! provides training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency using naloxone. – Rm1608 – AM Session (8:30 AM to 10:00 AM) and (10:30 AM to Noon) PM Session (12:30 PM to 2:00 PM) 90 minute training (Max: 10 participants each session).

STOP the BLEED Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. – Rm1610 AM Sessions (9:00 AM to 10:00 AM) (10:15 AM to 11:15 AM) and PM Session (12:30 PM to 1:30 PM) 60 minute training (Max: 20 participants each session) 

**Rooms 1606 and 1609 are empty.  If anyone knows of another merit badge counselor who would like to teach Citizenship in the World, Citizenship in the Nation, Communication or Personal Management pr some other non Eagle required merit badge in these rooms…contact me as soon as possible.**  Personal Fitness Merit Badge is not an option.

Fee for event is $10 a Scout to help cover the cost of janitor service, rental fee and website maintenance for registration.  Bring your own lunches as not provided. Same fee for every Scout even if they are only taking one AM or PM session.  Scout parents/ Leaders/ Volunteers are free, but they must be associated with Boy Scouts of America in some capacity.

SCHEDULE:

7:00 AM to 8:00 AM Check in for Merit Badge Counselors

7:30 AM to 8:00 AM Check in for BSA Scouts (YOU MUST ALREADY BE REGISTERED FOR THE MERIT BADGE CLASS AS LIMITED SPACE!)

8:00 AM to 8:30 AM Opening Ceremony with Flag Guard from Troop 58 is in Cafeteria

Opening remarks from District Chair Jim Bonfils and Goose Creek District Director Todd Bolick

8:30 AM to 4:00 PM (Merit Badge Sessions and other training – see above for specific varying times)

4:00 PM to 4:15 PM (Clean Up and Everyone exits the building per our school usage agreement policy)
