Swim Test for Summer Camp & Northern Tier on 6/19
June 19, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT
Summer Campers & Northern Tier Trekkers,
BSA requires that participants must pass a swim test. For NT, swim tests must be done prior to arrival. For Summer Camp, Summit has strongly encouraged us to do the test prior to arrival, otherwise the test will be in a lake far away from the campground, and wait times may potentially be hours.
The McClellands have graciously offered use of their pool to facilitate the test. For social distancing and also basic crowd-management purposes, we will be conducting tests 5 people at a time every 20 minutes.
To RSVP, please do the following:
1) Review the times (3pm, 3:20pm, 3:40pm, 4pm, 4:20pm)
2) Review the comments of people who have already RSVPd to make sure there are not already 5 others who have claimed the time slot you want
3) RSVP and comment what time you will take the test. RSVPs are due by NOON on 6/18.
PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR TEST. DO NOT BE LATE, OR YOU WILL NEED TO WAIT UNTIL THE VERY END.
Swimmers pass this test:
Jump feet first into water over the head in depth. Level off and swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be completed in one swim without stops and must include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating.
Beginners pass this test:
Jump feet first into water over the head in depth, level off, and swim 25 feet on the surface. Stop, turn sharply, resume swimming and return to the starting place. Anyone who has not completed either the beginner or swimmer tests is classified as a nonswimmer.
If you cannot make it to the swim test on 6/19, please contact me ASAP.

Ms. Khalili
