SUMMARY:Skiing Outing
DESCRIPTION:Based on the popular demand\, we have decided to have a fun 3-days 2-nights weekend (January 24th – 26th) at Roundtop Mountain Resort (http://www.skiroundtop.com/). We will depart from Ashburn on Friday evening (around 5:30pm) and return on Sunday around 3pm (if scouts want to participate in tubing). The cost of this outing is between $96-$120 (depending on package – see below)\, which includes 2 nights’ cabin lodging\, 1 day lift ticket\, 1 day ski rental\, 4 meals and a beginner lesson. Scouts will prepare Sat & Sun breakfasts and Sat dinner at the cabin. Everyone will get a meal ticket for Saturday lunch (see below for choices). \nPlease RSVP in TT and pay by January 14th (maximum 40 slots).  Please contact me directly (703-582-9689) if you have any questions\, issues\, or concerns. \nYiS\, Wilson Chua \n \nThe total cost of the trip should be around $96 – $120 per person.  This depends on your skiing level\, equipment needs\, etc. Please ask any questions about the details.  Sunday snow tubing ($32) & lunch ($10) are optional – many scouts are interested in snow tubing as well.  If you have never skied or snowboarded you are required to take a lesson (Learn to Ski or Snowboard). If you have skied before but want to try snowboarding you MUST take a lesson. This is for safety and enjoyment. If you have any questions let me know. \n \nSATURDAY Package Details Below \nLIFT TICKET + Meals and Lodging ($96) \nFor skiers and snowboarders who have their own equipment and do not require lessons. This ticket provides access to all lifts and slopes open that day. \nLEARN TO SKI OR SNOWBOARD + Meals and Lodging ($110) \nThis package is designed for beginner skiers or snowboarders ages 8 and up. This package includes a lift ticket for all beginner terrain\, rental equipment (includes helmet)\, and a beginner lesson. Everyone who purchases this package and completes the first-timer lesson\, may be eligible to purchase the Mountain Passport for only $49.00. Lesson is for ages 8 and up. \nALL MOUNTAIN PACKAGE + Meals and Lodging ($120) \nThis package is designed for the skier or snowboarder who is comfortable on all terrain. This package includes a lift ticket that is valid on all open terrain\, rental equipment (includes helmet)\, and a group lesson. Lesson is for ages 8 and up. \n \nOptional SUNDAY Snow Tubing ($32) and Lunch ($10):  \nSnow Tubing is a great way for scouts to experience the fun of winter recreation from a whole new perspective. DESCRIPTION:Scouts\, Earn your Fly Fishing Merit Badge indoors at the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival in January. Great opportunity open to the first 4 boys who email me before Friday\, October 11th. Early registration is limited to 4 scouts per troop but I maybe able to add additional scouts if there is space still open after December\, 1st.  Hunter and I are attending so if you are interested please contact me.  See details below.  Mr. Makitka     \nThank you of your interest in Boy Scout Fly Fishing Merit Badge Program being offered on both Saturday January 11 and Sunday\, January 12\, 2020 at the Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival in Doswell Virginia. This is the same exit off 95 as Kings Dominion. We am currently taking registrations for both Saturday and Sunday for this Fly Fishing Merit Badge event. \nThis is an all day-one day indoor Fly Fishing Merit Badge program. I have attached the Program Summary which should answer most of your questions. The scouts will complete all requirements except #10 and #11 since we are unable to catch a fish on a fly rod in the event center. I will keep their signed blue cards and once #10 and #11 are completed\, I will forward the completed blue card(s). A scout is trustworthy\, and a cell phone picture with fish and fly rod satisfies. If the scout does not have the Fishing Merit Badge\, have him bring a signed blue card for the Fishing MB\, since many of the requirements are the same. However\, this will be a fly fishing program only. This Fishing Merit Badge blue card will be a partial. \nThere is no charge for scouts in uniform and their guardian. You can bring a bag lunch or purchase lunch at the Festival. Orientation is at 9:30am. Please be prompt. \nWe ask all the scouts to complete the merit badge “Worksheet” prior to arrival. The link can be found on the front of the Program Summary. All the information can be found in the Fly Fishing Merit badge book. Although not required\, it is a great resource for leaders\, line\, tippet\, flies\, knots\, etc. This is a bargain at $4.99\, compared to other "How To" fly fishing books. \nRead the below attached Program Summary. The registration information is located on page 2. Please forward that information if you wish to sign up for the Fly Fishing Merit Badge. We will initially limit registration to 4 scouts per troop. On December 1\, we will open the registration to all scouts still interested. \nBSA Fly Fishing Merit Badge Program \nVirginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival \n13191 Dawn Blvd\, Doswell\, VA 23047 \n11 & 12 January 2020 \nThe Boy Scout Fly Fishing Merit Badge will be offered again at the annual Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival. All activities will be held indoors. For more information on the Festival\, please check out their website at http://www.vaflyfishingfestival.com/. \nScouts need only attend one day. They should arrive in either Class A or Class B uniform.
