DESCRIPTION:Troop 58 will be hosting an emergency simulation during our regular Tuesday Troop meeting.The simulation will be lead by a Troop 58 parent who is also an EMT with Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad.The purpose of the emergency project required for the Emergency Preparedness merit badge is to give Scouts practical\, hands-on experience in responding to emergencies by participating in a real emergency service project.  This requirement is designed to help Scouts apply what they’ve learned about emergency preparedness in a simulated setting\, reinforcing their ability to act effectively and safely during actual emergencies.This simulation is designed to fulfill the requirement 9d of Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge.You may participate in the simulation and earn credit for requirement 9d even you have not started the merit badge at the time of the event.

DESCRIPTION:Scouts!Since heavy rain and unsafe river conditions lead to canceling our May White Water Rafting trip the PLC has decided to DOUBLE UP in July!Troop 58 will do BOTH white water rafting and a ropes course during our July campout.We will be going to Historic Harpers Ferry and working with Harpers Ferry Adventure Center for Rafting\, Ropes and Camping.Read what HFAC has to say about their Ropes Course:Our professionally designed aerial ropes course delivers high adrenaline and thrills with over 60 obstacles on 3 levels and 2 auto belays! This two hour adventure ranges in heights from 10 to 40 feet off of the ground! This activity is great for families\, groups and adventure seekers! This trip begins within walking distance of our main building and our sister company\, Harpers Ferry Brewing! It is appropriate for ages 5 and 50 pounds and up. Each level does increase in difficulty! The higher you climb\, the more challenging the obstacles become! Closed toe shoes are required and no experience is necessary.Read what HFAC has to say about their Rafting Trip:Enjoy a fun and exciting ride on our Whitewater Rafting Trip\, which passes by historic Harpers Ferry and features Class I-III rapids on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers!
