DESCRIPTION:You(th) Vs. Hunger a service project where teams package lot of food for hungry people around the world. We are signed up to be runners in three shifts. This entails supplying tables with dry food (beans\, rice\, dried veggies) and also delivering completed boxes to the pallets. While the service work at this event has always been extremely worthwhile in helping to fight hunger\, this event is always one that Scouts highly enjoy and can be a whole lot of fun.  \nThe ~two hour time slots are 07:45-10:00\, 09:45-12:00\, and 13:45-16:00.  We will need three or more scouts per two hour time slot. Please note which shift(s) you are able to attend in your RSVP. \nSt. Theresa's Church is located here: https://goo.gl/maps/aBtd4UpB4J62 \nYou(th) Vs. Hunger is a food packaging ministry in coordination with Cross Catholic Outreach. It brings people together to feed the hungry in countries around the world. The food is an innovative and nutritious blend of rice\, beans\, soy\, dried vegetables and vitamins or macaroni and cheese and vitamins. A single bag yields 6 complete meals. Our volunteers will take ingredients packaged in bulk and measure and weigh them to make individual bags of a complete meal. \nAs with all our service projects\, there is no requirement for religious belief\, affiliation\, or knowledge to attend. SUMMARY:Shooting Campout
DESCRIPTION:Thrilled to be back on the range.  With Covid cancelling the last one we haven't done this since 2019!  This is our campout focused on rifle shooting. This is an excellent opportunity for the Scouts to learn about gun safety\, proper gun handling\, the different parts of a firearm\, and to sharpen their marksmanship skills.  Our very own Mr. Reed will be supporting this campout (I believe this may be his 5th time!) \nWe will be camping and shooting at the Fairfax Rod & Gun Club in Manassas. \nDuring the campout\, all Scouts will go through one hour of gun safety training and spend time on an NRA-certified rifle range. We will have an NRA-certified Range Safety Officer with us at all times while on the range.  The scouts will split into two groups after the safety training session.  While half are on the range\, the remainder will stay at the camp site and focus on either learning or sharpening their scout skills. \nIf any adults have either a bolt-action or single-shot .22 rifles\, please contact me.  I would like to discuss the possibility of borrowing your rifle for the campout. \nThe RSVP deadline for this campout is Tuesday's meeting on 3/15. \nPlease arrive on time and don't forget your permission slip.  We will be departing Trailside promptly at 6:00.

SUMMARY:GCD: Freeze-O-Ree
DESCRIPTION:The Freeze-O-Ree is an annual Goose Creek District overnight camping event hosted by our District Chapter of the Order of the Arrow. The weekend is filled with fun and skills activities\, beginning with camping on Friday night and ending with check-out on Sunday morning. \nThere will be several events for us to compete and show off our Scouting skills on Saturday. At the end of the day there will be a campfire where awards will be given out to the patrols who got the most points during the day. \nEach event at the Freeze‐O‐Ree will be based on our ability to work together as a team\, their general scout skills\, and their scout spirit. \nCovid screening will be required prior to arrival at Snyder. \nDeparture from Trailside Middle School at 5:30pm on Fri\, Feb 18.  \nCheck your gear ASAP to be prepared for cold weather camping.
