SUMMARY:Caving Campout
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an Awesome Caving Adventure! We will be exploring Whiting’s Neck Cave near Martinsburg\, WV. Our outfitter Go Adventures will provide instruction on basic caving safety and technical skills\, followed by a guided tour of the cave. Go Adventure will also supply us with a helmet\, headlamp\, and kneepads. The whole experience will last between 3 and 4 hours. The total cost for Caving and Camping is $115.  You can pay via Zelle to Troop58.Zelle@gmail.com This outing is limited to 14 scouts (outfitter’s caving policy)\, so the first 14 scouts to RSVP will be able to attend. All participants must sign a safety waiver.Our campsite will be at the Antietam Creek Campground which is about 20 minutes from the cave.We will meet at Trailside Middle School at 5:30pm on Friday\, November 8 for a 6pm departure.  Make sure to eat dinner prior to departing.As we get closer to the date\, a suggested packing list will be provided.

SUMMARY:Backpacking Campout - Big & Little Schloss - Thinking about Philmont one day?
DESCRIPTION:Weather update- Be Prepared! It will get down to the low to mid30s tonight\, Friday. Bring a knit cap and gloves. Bring enough layers to stay warm but able to remove them into your pack as the temperature rises on Saturday and Sunday.As the old saying goes\, “There is no bad weather\, just bad preparation.”We will meet at Trailside Middle School at 5:30pm on Friday night to drive to the Great North Mountain Trail. We will take a 2-mile night hike to our first campsite climbing 700 feet (HARD).  Be sure to eat dinner before we leave on Friday.  Then\, on Saturday we get up early to hike to a lookout point and watch the sunrise on the top of Little Schloss.  The Saturday hike will be 7 miles to our second campsite.  Finally\, on Sunday we will hike to the summit of Big Schloss before returning to the cars.
