SUMMARY:Philmont Crew Training Hike/Overnight
DESCRIPTION:For our June training hike/overnight (Saturday June 8)\, we will be hiking a portion of the AT (from Ashby Gap to the Rod Hollow Shelter area).  https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/ashby-gap-to-rod-hollow-shelter?u=i&sh=mm6arjWe will be getting a later start that Saturday (around 2pm-ish) and hiking approximately 4 miles in before setting up camp.  Once we set up camp\, we have the option of hiking a bit further into the roller coaster portion of the AT.  You should be hiking with a full pack for this outing.  Check your Guidebook (p. 20) for an idea of what to pack.  You should also be packing between 3 and 4 liters of water.  You will need a tent buddy – with 9 scouts\, we will have one group of 3.  See Grant’s text about this.  We will provide dinner\, breakfast\, and some snacks.
