SUMMARY:Comet Neowise Viewing party @One_Loudoun (5 min drive)
DESCRIPTION:(This will be an "Individual Event".  Each family will coordinate their own logisitics.) \n(Note the location change!   While the event is still at One Loudoun\,  it is back to the northern fields of the property.) \nhttps://goo.gl/maps/7St4WuficpdmVXqj7 \nYou’ve probably heard about the comet on the news. Well here’s another good reason (and good opportunity) to see it. \nCome join me\, our Troop 58 and local cubscout pack 1158 for the best chances to see the comet Neowise (a once in a lifetime event). I’ll bring some Astronomy knowledge and maybe even break out a game of “are-you-smarter-than-a-cubscout?”. If you have any background in Astronomy or have any astronomical humor\, please be prepared to\, er\, shine (shine like\, a celestial object of your choice)😊 \nPlease RSVP by texting me your name and a message like "Will attend the One Loudoun Comet Viewing" to my mobile phone.  That way I'll be able to give you event updates\, if there are any to provide.  -Graham Edwards (703-728-7406) \n \nThere are two venues and two dates! \n· First venue – The weather report looks most promising on Saturday @Bear’s_Den. \n· Second venue – The weather report looks pretty good (all things considered) on Sunday @One_Loudoun \n  \nIt’s going to be pretty late for some kiddos. I suggest they get a healthy nap!  I know I will. \n   \n \nSECOND VENUE – ONE LOUDON – This Sunday \nOne Loudoun (On the Northern side of the Campus "Freetown Blvd\, Ashburn\, VA 20147") \nWhile One Loudoun doesn’t have the natural beauty of the first venue\, it does have convenience! It’s right here in town (5-7 minute drive). Also the kids can get around a bit more. Even so\, they’ll need to keep 6 foot distance from non-family members.   \nWe were given special permission to use the campus for this event (per Lindsey Pfisterer – General Manager)  A few points about the agreement: In accordance with that agreement with RPAI:  We will pick up any litter we find (whether it's ours or not).  We will keep socially distant.  We will acknowledge that RPAI (owner of One Loudoun) is not responsible for any incident (e.g. sickness or damage to our persons or property).  Adult supervision will be present to ensure youth do not.  I'll have an activity consent to capture your agreement if you choose to participate.  The attendees will be limited 40 persons. \n \nBasic Details \n· This Sunday (7/19/2020) \n· 9:15-10:30ish pm \n· One Loudoun (On the Northern side of the Campus "Freetown Blvd\, Ashburn\, VA 20147" ) \n· Provincetown Dr\, Ashburn\, VA 20147 \n· 3 minute drive from Ashburn Elementary School (may want to get there 15 min early) \n· We’ll meet at 9:15pm to watch the sun go down and chill. You can drive up late if need be. \n \nYou should definitely bring: \n· Bug spray \n· A bit of water \n· A face covering \n· Class B uniform \n· Camp Chairs \n \nI’d suggest you also bring\, if you can: \n· Flashlight for each person in your family (with adequate batteries) \n· An evening snack (the local frozen custard shop is pretty good) \n· Binoculars \n· Camera (with tripod) (with telephoto lens) \n· A smartphone with an astronomy app like Starmap or SkyView (both are free) \n· A well rested scout (may I suggest\, again\, that youngsters have napped?)
