SUMMARY:Jack Lawrence's Eagle Scout Project
DESCRIPTION:Hello Everybody\, \nI will be creating a labyrinth for my Eagle Scout project at Crossroads Methodist Church\, meeting next to the play ground on Sunday \, July 12th at 8am. The project will take about 5-8 hours and I will need about 12-15 scouts to help. The bathroom and water fountains will not be available in the church due to COVID-19 concerns\, so it is best advised to go to the bathroom before coming and to bring a water bottle. There will be a water source to refill your bottles and there will be food for scouts during the project \, but please let me know about any dietary restrictions ahead of time. Under Virginia State Law\, it is required that all scouts wear a face mask and attempt to keep a distance of 6 feet away from one another. \nI would recommend bringing gardening gloves for this project because we will be dealing with mulch\, rocks\, and wood\, but it is not mandatory. \nIf anybody has anybody has any rakes or shovels that they can bring to use for the project that would be great. \n \nThank you\, \n \n \nJack Lawrence

SUMMARY:Law MB Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Scouts: \nThe Law Merit Badge will Be offered beginning Sunday\, July 12. I am planning that we will meet on Zoom from 7pm – 8:30 on Sunday evenings. Details will be sent to participants in advance. I anticipate it will take 3-5 sessions including a Mock Trial\, that the Scouts will conduct. \nIf you are interested let me know. Class size is limited. Don’t forget to reach out to Mr. Hall in advance to get your Blue Card. \nThe Law Merit Badge requirements are available in this Workbook. http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Law.pdf  \nUse of the Workbook is not required but to you must Be Prepared to engage in the guided discussion. \nThe sessions will be part tutorial and part guided discussions utilizing the Socratic Method prevalent in law school classes. Scouts are expected to Be Prepared in advance for each session. \nThe only requirements are those listed for the Merit Badge. Each Scout is expected to meet each requirement through their own preparation and work. No more\, no less. If you are confused\, read the requirement and do what the verb tells you to do (e.g. show\, discuss\, explain\, do). Watching a fellow Scout do this may be very informative\, but the requirements are for you to complete the requirement if you want your blue card signed. That said\, I’m also happy to work with any Scout to complete the requirements after the formal sessions have ended. \nSome of the sessions may add supplemental material and care as of discussion during the meeting time. These are additional information to help add context. They are not requirements for the Merit Badge. \nAlong the way we’ll have a Mock Trial that you must prepare for in advance. You may be called upon to work with other Scouts as part of the trial. I am trying to line up an experienced local attorney to act as the trial judge. \nAt all times we will be guided by the Scout Oath and Law. Any participant who cannot do so may be asked to leave the session.  \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to me. Be sure to include a parent/guardian in any communication. I'll also be at Summer Camp all week. \nYours in Scouting\, \nDavid Weitzel\, M.S.\, J.D. \nLaw Merit BadgeCounselor
